To support the College’s DSS curriculum, the Association is developing a Student Mentoring Program in collaboration with the College. We are looking for Association members with appropriate qualifications to join our team of mentors. Please contact Dr. Bik Chow at bcchow@hkbu.edu.hk on how to become a wise and trusted counselor for our younger generation.
(1) Mentors with overseas education experience: Graduate from an Australian university within the last 5 years, currently residing in Hong Kong.
(2) Mentors with local work experience: Senior management in the Finance, Logistics, Media, or Tourism industry.

Starting with the Oct/Nov issue of Newsletter, the Association is offering advertisement space for our alumni. A space of 6cm x 6cm square is only HK$500. The circulation (hard copy and electronic copy) is about 2,500. Especially great if you have a company or are self-employed professional. The College hosted a Press Conference on DSS announcement, at the College campus on Thursday, 20 September, 3pm.

At the 17 August AGM, the Alumni Association conferred on Mr. Lin the distinguished status of Honorary Life Member. This is the Association’s highest member status, granted to individual of eminence and with distinguished service to the Association and the College. Mr. Lin is the chair of the College’s Council, and a past President of the Association.

In better alignment with the College on Giveback activities as well as fresh graduates recruitment, the Alumni Association has changed its membership validity period from April-March to September-August. All existing memberships with Expiry Date of 31 March will be automatically extended to 31 August of the same year.

At the 2006-7 AGM on 17 August 2007, the President’s Awards were presented to Mr. Charlie Chau and Mr. Leonard Fok. Mr. Charlie Chau received the 2007 President’s Alumni Award, in appreciation of his unwavering support over the past years, and commendable efforts in the building of the alumni community. Mr. Leonard Fok received the 2007 President’s Award of Excellence, in recognition of his leadership and contribution to the success of the Student Connectivity Program. Congratulations to Charlie and Leonard !

The Alumni Association’s new web-based Community Directory has just gone LIVE on 3rd August. It is a platform to re-connect with fellow classmates, and to develop into a servicing community network.

The College’s web site is undergoing revamp to support the DSS transition, and the SSC Alumni Database will be closed down and the platform migrated to the Alumni Association’s Community Directory.

An article was published in the Sing Tao Newspaper on 25 June 2007, on the College’s plan to establish a Heritage Trail on campus.

The College’s Swimming Pool is now accepting application for the 2007 swimming season from alumni – being valid members of the Association.  The application form is attached, please complete and return to the College directly.
